licensure and disciplinary activities of all state dental boards.

state dental board structure and operations; license populations within
each state; state board licensing requirements; and 2010 board
disciplinary activity and complaint statistics. The handbook is an
invaluable resource of information for the examining and licensing
community. The price is $50 for AADB members and $75 for nonmembers.
The American Association of Dental Boards' Guidelines for Evaluating
Allegations of Inappropriate Prescribing Practices, Drug Diversion, and
Substance-Related Impairment of the Dental License: This report
addresses the inappropriate administration, dispensing or prescribing of
drug products containing controlled substances, the diversion of such
medicines, and the impairment of the dental practitioner from drug and
ethanol use that can harm the public and erode confidence in the
maintenance of professional standards. The price for the Guidelines is
$33.00. (Approved by the General Assembly at the 125th Annual Meeting,
October 15,2008.)
The AADB's Guidelines on Unprofessional Conduct
Involving Sexual Boundary Violations: This report defines dentist
sexual misconduct and provides recommendations
to assist dental boards with the investigation process, preparation for
formal hearings, crafting an appropriate disciplinary response, dentist
monitoring, and dentist education. These guidelines are available $33.
(Approved by the General Assembly at the 124th
Annual Meeting, September 27, 2007.)
The AADB's Guidelines
on the Dental Patient Record:
These guidelines outline the basic requirements for
the creation and maintenance of an effective dental patient record.
It is felt that having ready reference to the universal
characteristics of the dental patient record will facilitate the work of
regulatory agencies and help clarify record keeping issues for
licensees. The price of the guidelines
is $33. (Approved at the 126th Annual Meeting, September 30, 2010.)
Guidance for Clinical Licensure Examinations
in Dentistry: These guidelines are provided to assist the
examining agencies with the development of examinations that assess the
clinical skills of candidates and, in conjunction with other
requirements as determined by the individual jurisdictions, promote
public confidence in the overall healthcare regulatory process.
(Approved by the General Assembly at the 120th AADE Annual Meeting,
October 23, 2003.)
